Raul Anguiano is a national artist that completes the Group
5 of Mexico, the most important Mexican muralist artists of
the XX Century: Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, David Alfaro
Siqueiros and Jose Clemente Orozco.
In his magnificent mural,
Birth in the Jungle, Anguiano has intuitively created Lord
Pakal's Prophecy with allusive natural symbols: a divine birth
by the God 7's Mayan woman from the Lacandon tribe. A mysterious
Venus-related priestess, assisted by three virgins, that delivers
the mythological child who in time will rule the destiny of
the Mayan Lacandon people, becoming the long-awaited Child
King at the end of the Great Mayan Cycle.
Anguiano, as a powerful
prophet of the Mexica myth, represents perhaps the most important
living artist of Mexico, sponsored by Microsoft Mexico.
